IconAuthor and Multimedia Devices
*********************************
Several vendors now offer multimedia solutions and IconAuthor
supports them in a variety of ways. IconAuthor supports multimedia devices
in the following ways:
1. Media Control Interface (MCI) - MCI is an interface for communicating
with multimedia devices and files. IconAuthor can interface with any MCI
installed device through the MCI icon.
2. Object Linking and Embedding (OLE) - OLE allows embedding and linking
of data created from server applications to client applications.
IconAuthor is an OLE client and OLE objects can be created in the Smart
Object Editor and displayed atruntime. Any device that is an OLE
server can be supported in IconAuthor.
3. IconAuthor Supported Devices (Overlay, Video Players, Digital Video
boards, etc) - IconAuthor provides drivers for a number of devices. Having
an IconAuthor driver allows the developer to use the Video icons that are
integrated into IconAuthor.
